Symantec Corporation Trades Lower in the After-Hours (SYMC)

Shares of Symantec Corporation SYMC are trading lower in the after-hours following the release of its Q1 earnings results. Currently, shares are off by 1.08%, at $19.20. They closed the regular session lower by 0.77%, at $19.41. Symantec Corporation said that Q1 EPS was $0.38 on revenues of $1.67 billion; revenues increased 9% year over year. "We closed our fiscal year surpassing expectations across each of our key financial metrics, driven by market share gains and growth in backup, software-as-a-service, data loss prevention and consumer. In addition, our recent acquisitions performed above expectations for the third consecutive quarter," said Enrique Salem, president and chief executive officer, Symantec. "Our rigorous approach to running the business positions us well for fiscal year 2012, during which we will execute on our vision by energizing our core businesses and capitalizing on opportunities in mobile, cloud and virtualization." Symantec Corporation is a global provider of security, storage, and systems management solutions that help businesses and consumers secure and manage their information. It conducts the business in three geographic regions: Americas, which is comprised of the United States, Canada, and Latin America; Europe, the Middle East and Africa; and Asia Pacific Japan.
