To Russia, With Drive

No it is not another "James Bond" movie, but rather automakers are investing in Russian automakers, according to the Wall Street Journal. Six automakers, including Ford Motor Co. F and Volkswagen AG, are in final negotiations to invest somewhere between $4 and $4.5 billion in Russian automakers by the middle of the decade. The total amount may be announced as early as tomorrow. Volkswagen and General Motors Co. GM are still in talks with the Russian government regarding final details, but Ford's partner, OAO Sollers, has already detailed their plans to build three new plants in Russia. According to the person close to the situation, "GM, Volkswagen and the five-party group plan to invest around $1 billion each."
