Stocks Get Boost From Greece Bailout Talk

(TheStreet) -- Stocks were higher Tuesday on hopes that European officials may approve a new aid package for Greece, but gains were tempered by disappointing domestic economic data. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up by 53 points, or 0.4%, at 12,494 after surging to as high as 12,574 early in the session. The S&P 500 was higher by 5 points, or 0.4%, at 1336, and the Nasdaq was ahead by 16 points, or 0.5%, at 2813. Pfizer PFE, Hewlett Packard CVX and Procter & Gamble PG traded near the top of the Dow.
