Siemens sees stronger orders

The German manufacturing giant updated its Q3 guidance, saying a $1.44 bil-plus interest payment to former nuclear joint-venture partner Areva NP could weigh on earnings in the quarter ending June 30. Still, Siemens (SI) sees earnings slightly above last year's $1.72 bil. It noted a significant jump in new orders in the quarter, including a big order for trains from German railway Deutsche Bahn. New orders should come in above the $27.3 bil figure
