Movement Expected In The Shares Of These Companies Amid Significant Events (BRK.B, BX, JPM, ORCL,YHOO)

According to a Bloomberg report, the shares of the following companies may see some unusual trading moves today.

After the close of Friday’s trading, Berkshire Hathaway, Inc. (NYSE: BRK.B), the insurance and investment company owned by Warren Buffet, became part of the S&P 500 index.

Blackstone Group LP (NYSE: BX) gained 5.3% to reach $13.50 as ownership pattern of Merlin Entertainments Group Ltd, 48% owned by Blackstone changed.

Blue Nile,Inc. (NYSE: NILE) may suffer losses on its shares due to fall in the number of visitors on its website, and subsequent decline of its earnings.

As per Securities and Exchange Commission, Carl Icahn, and Ralph Whitworth, money managers who run activist funds raised their stake in Genzyme Corp. (NYSE: GENZ), a biotechnology company, in the fourth quarter of 2009.

JP Morgan Chase & Co. (NYSE: JPM), second largest bank in the US, gained 0.3% to reach $39.07 as it agreed to take over RBS Sempra Commodities LLP’s non-US assets for $1.7bn.

Merck & Co. (NYSE: MRK), the second largest pharmaceutical company in the US, reported profit of 79 cents per share for its fourth quarter of 2009, beating the average Bloomberg analysts’ estimate of 78 cents per share. Addition of Schering-Plough products to its product line helped it achieve revenue growth of 67% to $10.1bn.

NII Holdings (NYSE: NIHD), provider of digital wireless communication services, gained 8.1 % to reach $39 as its recommendation was raised to “buy” from “neutral” by Bank of America Corp. (NYSE: BAC) backed by the news that Grupo Televisa SA (ADR) (NYSE: TV) is to buy a 30% stake in NII’s Mexico unit in all cash deal of $1.44bn.

Software developer, Oracle Corporation (NYSE: ORCL) may reach up to $32 in the next 12 months on the back of revenue boost from the recently purchased Sun Microsystems, Inc.

Oshkosh Corp (NYSE: OSK), a commercial, and military truck maker gained 7.6% to reach $41.25, as it beat BAE Systems Plc (ADR) (OTC: BAESY), and Navistar International Corp. (NYSE: NAV) to retain a US Army contract worth $3bn.

Rigel Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NYSE: RIGL) gained 6.7% to reach $10.06 as its rights for experimental arthritis treatment were bought by AstraZeneca (ADR) (NYSE: AZN) for $1.25bn. Shares of Terra Industries, Inc. (NYSE: TRA) soared 22% to $40.08 as the company announced that it will be acquired by Yara International ASA (ADR) (OTC: YARIY) for $41.10 for each share amounting to a total of $4.1bn.

Carl Icahn, a billionaire hedge fund manager, sold 38 million out of his 50 million shares of Yahoo! Inc. (NYSE: YHOO).
