Michigan-based cannabis company Exclusive Brands is launching a 30-acre Arlington cultivation site. The family-owned brand expects to grow 10,000 plants at the site during its first phase.
Narmin Jarrous, Exclusive's executive vice president of business development, said the licensing and opening process went smoothly until the COVID-19 pandemic.
The company empathized with local offices working with low or no staff, and credited the western Michigan community with being helpful and responsive, Jarrous said. The delays amounted to just a few weeks off the original early June launch date.
"We were really lucky to have such great relationships with all the leaders in Arlington," Jarrous said.
Why It Matters For Exclusive Brands, Michigan: Exclusive, which considers cultivation the foundation of the industry, sees grow locations like Arlington as central figures in reaching the state's big picture goals.
"Without these cultivation sites, there isn't a cannabis industry," Jarrous said.
The company expects to create 40 jobs for local applicants upon its launch in Arlington.
Jarrous, who is also Exclusive's director of social equity, told Benzinga the company experienced success with its other grow site location in Ann Arbor.
The plan is to replicate that model in Arlington.
"We don't want to be anyone's headache," she said. "We do our best to communicate everything — we only want to bring positive energy into the city."
What's Next for Exclusive Brands: Continued expansion is on deck for Exclusive.
The company's efforts include enhancing portfolio brands, including its Strain Kings cannabis flower, Terpene Tanks concentrates and Platinum-brand vapes.
