Generic Trade Celebrates 10 Years Of 59 Cent Commission Structure

Generic Trade, an online brokerage, and trading technology, formally announced its 10-year celebration of 59 cent commissions for all accounts.

What Happened?

Generic Trade is a holistic discount brokerage solution specializing in futures and options trading.

As part of a vision to democratize access to derivatives markets, Generic Trade comes as a leader in the low-fee, low-margin trading movement. The firm’s core product portfolio consists of a non-tiered, standard 59 cent commission for all markets, eliminating extra transaction fees except those charged by exchanges and the National Futures Association.

“Many had doubts about us being able to offer all accounts the same low rates with this caliber of trading infrastructure – and about us being able to stay in business,” said Marc Nathan, President of Generic Trade. “But, 10 years later, Generic Trade has seen tremendous success and popularity while continuing to offer all of this to all clients. It may be hard to believe, but every single futures and options account we have ever had has been set up for the same low 59 cent commission.”

Why It Matters?

Overall, Generic Trade lowers the barriers to entry through its focus on reduced commissions and fast access to exchanges via a co-located server system.
