On the heels of our latest review of shake-ups in the cannabis industry, several companies opted to make several shifts within their leadership teams.
Former Red Bull Exec Joins Mydecine
Mydecine Innovations Group Inc. MYCO MYCOF, previously known as NewLeaf Brands Inc., has hired Jim Gunning as its Chief Marketing Officer.
Gunning will replace Benjamin Martch, who resigned from the board.
Following the resignation, Martch will hold an executive role within Levee Street Holdings LLC, Mydecine's 50% owned distribution subsidiary.
Gunning, a former Red Bull North America's Sports Marketing Director, also served as RESQWATER's Managing Director and a consultant for Blue Sky Biologicals, a hemp-derived CBD company.
The Denver–based company noted Gunning would oversee the development of the marketing campaign around its new fungtional mushroom product line, among other duties.
Mydecine's COO is happy to welcome Gunning in their team, adding his professional experience would "easily shine through his work ethic and his genuine, relaxed and humble personality."
"It is such an honor accepting a key role to bring the Mydecine vision to life," stated Gunning. "I believe in the very near-term future fungi is going to play a far more significant role in our daily lives than we can ever imagine."
One World Pharma Taps Former DNC Leader
One World Pharma Inc. OWPC, has welcomed political veteran Minyon Moore to is advisory board Monday.
The former Democratic National Committee's CEO will serve as board's chairwoman, the press release said.
Moore, who's urging the Democratic nominee Joe Biden to choose a black woman as its running mate for this year's elections, is one of the Washington Magazine's 100 Most Powerful Women in Washington.
Moore said she would utilize its expertise to accelerate the company's growth and to gather a "skilled cast of better minds aligned in the interests of the Company and its shareholders."
Meanwhile, with the latest addition, the Las Vegas-based pharmaceutical company continued to bolster its leadership ranks, following the last month's appointment of the renowned NBA Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas as to the role of CEO and vice chairman of the board of directors.
"I am elated to add Minyon Moore to the leadership team of One World Pharma and to establish an effective Board of Advisors," commented Thomas on Moore's appointment.
WeedMD Welcomes Bruce Croxon, Part Ways With Hugh Scully
Cannabis company WeedMD Inc. WDDMF is making changes to its leadership just weeks after it posted a 327% sequential increase in revenue.
The Toronto-based company appointed Bruce Croxon to its board. Croxon was featured on CBC’s hit show Dragons’ Den, and is the co-founder of Lavalife, an online dating website.
“I’m thrilled to be mentoring the team during what is expected to be a period of exponential growth as the Company moves towards profitability and expansion,” Croxon said Friday.
Meantime, Dr. Hugh Scully — who was recently reappointed to the board — submitted his resignation.
George Scorsis, Executive Chairman of WeedMD, thanked Scully for his contribution on behalf of the board, explaining he resigned due to “personal matter.”
Sensi Brands Hires Tony Kwon, Obtains Health Canada’s License
Consumer packaged goods company Sensi Brands Inc., which received Health Canada’s recreational sales license Tuesday, hired cannabis-industry veteran Tony Kwon to helm its marketing department.
Kwon previously supervised the strategy and launch of RIFF at Aphria.
At Sensi, He will serve as Senior Consultant and oversee brand portfolio development.
In addition, the Aurora, Ontario-based company introduced a new pre-roll brand, dubbed Station House. It’s ”the first of many new and innovative high-quality brands we will be introducing to the adult-use market,” CEO Tony Giorgi stated.
