Tesla To Start Exporting Made-In-China Vehicles: Report

When Tesla Inc. TSLA started vehicle production in China, some worried about quality differences between the "made in America" versus "made in China" vehicles.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted back in January 2019 that made-in-China vehicles would only be sold in the greater China region. Now it looks like those plans have changed.

A report from Bloomberg citing an anonymous source said that Tesla will begin exporting the made-in-China Model 3. The vehicles should start production in the fourth quarter of this year, and reportedly will be shipped to Singapore, Australia, New Zealand and parts of Europe.

Benzinga's Take: It's well-known that Tesla uses different batteries for the China Model 3s than Fremont-produced vehicles. Hopefully owners are OK with that.

It's also been reported that the overall build quality of 3s coming out of China has been significantly better.

Either way, it seems Tesla cannot wait to finish Gigafactory Berlin to meet worldwide demand.
