American Water to Expand in New York

American Water Works Company, Inc. AWK, the largest publicly traded U.S. water and wastewater utility company, announced today that it has agreed to purchase Aqua America Inc.'s regulated operations in New York. American Water will also sell its regulated operations in Ohio to Aqua America. The agreement establishes American Water as the largest investor-owned water utility in the state of New York, and highlights the company's commitment to operate in states where it can best create value, drive efficiencies and grow.
