Activision, the publisher of the popular Call of Duty series of video games, has filed a complaint regarding who has control over the domain name ModernWarfare3.com. Modern Warfare 3 is the next title in the Call of Duty series and is due for release later this year. At this point in time, it's not clear who owns ModernWarfare3.com, but whoever does, sparked a great deal of controversy when they began redirecting the website to Electronic Arts Battlefield 3 website last week.
Obviously that caught the attention of the folks at Activision and a complaint was filed on July 15, according to Fusible. The document filed by Activision cost them $2,600 and the publisher claims that the people who own ModernWarfare3.com don't have the right to and have no interest in the name.
The complaint, in its entirety of 11 pages, can be read here.
What do you think will happen? Does Activision have a good argument?
