American Petro-Hunter's Sacramento Gas Project Commences Seismic Shoot

SCOTTSDALE, AZ--(Marketwire - August 10, 2009) - American Petro-Hunter, Inc. AAPH ("American Petro-Hunter" or the "Company") is pleased to advise that the previously announced seismic shoot at the Sacramento Gas Project has begun and will be completed Aug 11th. The seismic shoot is a 5 mile long, 2D swath that is crucial towards determining the location of the upcoming test well.

Upon completion of the shoot, the operator aims to expedite the interpretation and reprocessing of the data. Final results of the seismic information should be available approximately 7 days after the conclusion of the data acquisition. American Petro-Hunter is working with the operator regarding scheduling of the upcoming gas well drilling program on both the proposed Sacramento and Victory Projects and will be in a position to announce the spud dates for drilling these targets shortly. Video footage of the seismic operations will be available shortly on the Sacramento Gas Project page of the company's website (www.americanpetrohunter.com).

In other news, the Company wishes to report on the Brinkman Prospect in Clarke County, Kansas. The well was drilled to a total depth of 5,320 feet. Several oil and gas shows in the well were tested in both the Marmaton Limestone and the Mississippian and were deemed not commercially viable. The well underwent a series of electronic logs to confirm that a reservoir wasn't encountered and following a final review of the data, the well was plugged. The Company will work with the engineering team to determine if the prospect has any future potential for commercial hydrocarbon production.

About the Sacramento Gas Project:

The project is located west of Modesto in the Central Valley of California, near Sacramento. Potential Recoverable Reserves have been calculated to be 42 BCF at a depth of 7,400 feet within sands that are indicated by 2D seismic to be in excess of 50 feet of gross pay. Estimates by the play generator, a private third party engineering group, is that if the pay zone is 100% gas filled and the well is brought into commercial production that an I.P.R. (initial production rate) of 5,000 Mcf per day may be achieved. American Petro-Hunter would anticipate similar rates to commercial wells in the region at analog fields that produce on a daily basis of between 2,000 to 4,000 Mcf per day. Natural Gas wells in these analog fields exhibit long life with relatively stable rates of production and predictable decline. Nearby fields contains some of the most prolific gas reservoirs in the Sacramento Valley. They have accounted for over 400 BCF of gas production to-date. In proximity to the prospects are prolific gas fields such as Union Island (271 BCF), McMullin Ranch (63 BCF) and Vernalis (103 BCF).
