Nomura Reports Upbeat FQ1 Profit

Nomura Holdings Inc NMR reported a strong rise in its net profit for the fiscal first quarter. Nomura posted its quarterly net profit at Y17.77 billion, versus a net profit of Y2.32 billion, in the year-ago period. Analysts were expecting net profit of Y13.65 billion. Nomura's revenue surged 36% to Y437.01 billion from Y314.02 billion. Nomura shares gained 1.24% to close at $4.89 yesterday.
