It Started With Cannabis Rain: Will Israel Now Legalize Recreational Weed?

Back in September, Tel-Aviv residents who happen to be cannabis enthusiasts had the unique opportunity to enjoy cannabis rain.

A flying drone dropped hundreds of baggies with free cannabis samples as part of a pro-legalization campaign coordinated by a Telegram group “The Green Drone.”

Before releasing the packages, the organizers explained the operation to the Telegram group:

"It's time my dear brothers. Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's the green drone, handing out free cannabis from the sky… Enjoy my beloved brothers, this is your pilot brother, making sure we all get some free love."

Knesset (Israel Parliament) apparently got the message.

Proposing The Full Cannabis Legalization

This seemed to have been one of the first signs that Israel is stepping on the road to cannabis legalization. This week when Knesset will propose for the full cannabis legalization, according to I24News.

While recreational cannabis is still illegal in Israel, the country made some significant changes to its cannabis laws in recent years, with partially decriminalizing the drug back in 2017. Furthermore, Israel's Health Minister Yuli Edelstein has released new regulations proposing serious price reduction for medical cannabis, removing cannabidiol from the list of dangerous substances, the report continued.

According to some estimates, if Israel legalizes recreational cannabis, it could turn into a big exporter of the crop.
