Lordstown Motors Corp. RIDE has received 100,000 non-binding production reservations from commercial fleets for its Lordstown Endurance all-electric pickup truck.
"Receiving 100,000 pre-orders from commercial fleets for a truck like the Endurance is unprecedented in automotive history," CEO Steve Burns said in a Monday press release.
The Endurance is a full-size electric pickup truck that has a range of 250 miles and can tow up to 7,500 pounds. The initial Endurance model is a crew cab configuration with a medium bed length that's priced at $45,000 after a $7,500 federal rebate.
Lordstown is taking a bit of a different approach to enter the EV space than other electric startups. The company aims to make electric vehicles geared toward companies looking for an electric fleet. After succesfully gaining traction in this area, Lordstown may begin producing vehicles for the consumer market.
RIDE Price Action: Lordstown shares were trading 14.56% higher at $25.18 at last check Monday.
