Android Market Tops 10 Billion App Downloads, Adds 1 Billion Every Month

Google's GOOG mobile OS is quickly encroaching on Apple's AAPL territory. According to the search engine giant's official blog (via TechCrunch), the Android Market has exceeded 10 billion app downloads. Better still, the company's growth rate has soared to one billion app downloads per month. For those of you who are keeping score, Apple sold its 15 billionth app last summer. To celebrate Google's milestone, the company will offer several apps at just $0.10 apiece for the next 10 days. The starting lineup includes:

• Color & Draw for Kids
• Endomondo Sports Tracker PRO
• Fieldrunners HD
• Great Little War Game
• Minecraft: Pocket Edition
• Paper Camera
• Sketchbook Mobile
• SoundHound
• SwiftKey X Keyboard
