Top Banking Criminals Won't Face Charges

Bankers are now free to steal as many millions of dollars as they can, because the US government has gone on record saying they are simply not interested in prosecuting financial crimes. Seriously. According to a Wall Street Journal report, the Department of Justice is passing the buck to regulators to try and police the financial sector crimes that brought down the world's economy and sent the United States into a near-Depression. "There's been a realization and a more deliberate targeting by the Department of Justice before we launch criminally on some of these cases'' said David Cardona, who was a deputy assistant director at the Federal Bureau of Investigation until he left last month for a job at the Securities and Exchange Commission. The Justice Department has decided it is "better left to regulators" to take civil-enforcement action on those cases, he said to the Journal. In other words, crime pays — if you're one of the 1 percent willing to defraud your own countrymen in order to make a buck. Take Goldman Sachs GS for example. They purposefully deceived their own customers, selling them bad investments that Goldman Sachs was, themselves, betting against. Why aren't the executives who dreamed up that little scheme behind bars? Because they own the government, of course. The government is going to, rather than pursue criminal fraud charges, go after them in civil court. They'll pay a fine — a mere pittance compared to what they made in profits, and avoid jail time. The government, it seems, is just not interested in pursuing criminal charges for these folks. They will, however, send in 1,500 SWAT team, heavily armed commandos to stop protesters from camping without a permit. What a country we live in, where the bastards who purposefully destroyed the economy are left to sip champagne and enjoy the fruits of their criminal empires, while those who protest them are beaten and arrested. The rest of us may as well just start looting and burning everything in sight. It's about the only move we have left. Elections in this country are rigged and easily stolen, as Benzinga laid out here. Fox News is so bad and biased with its coverage that its viewers are often dumber for having watched the channel. Studies show that the average Fox viewer knows less about the news than those who take in no television news, which is just astounding. Morons on Medicare protest socialized medicine. Tax-welfare recipient corporations oppose welfare...and taxes. We are rapidly devolving into a fourth-world nation, somewhere below the old "third-world" designation, primarily because our "citizens" are obtuse enough to believe we are still a great superpower. We're not. We're a debtor nation who wasted our inheritance chasing ghosts across a desert and chasing a better economy via tax cuts to criminals. When the final chapter on America is written, expect Darwin to be heavily cited. Unless, of course, the Conservatives get one last book-burning in first. Like my stories?
