MetLife MET released its fourth quarter earnings results after the closing bell on Tuesday. The company reported net income of $1.13 billion or $1.06 per share, compared to $51 million or $0.05 per share, in the year ago period.
On an operating basis, MET reported earnings of $1.40 billion or $1.31 per share, versus $1.19 billion or $1.18 per share, in last year's corresponding quarter. This compared to Street consensus EPS estimates of $1.24.
Revenues for the quarter were up 19% to $16.41 billion versus $13.76 billion last year. This missed Wall Street consensus revenue estimates of $16.81 billion.
In Tuesday's after hours trading session, MET shares have added nearly 4% to $38.75.
