Today's Top Small-Cap Winners!

A total of nine small-cap stocks recorded gains of great than 15% on Tuesday. All of these companies have market caps of between $50 and $300 million. Below, Benzinga highlights the movements in these stocks. Amyris, Inc. AMRS - This stock jumped more than 27% on Tuesday and closed the trading session at $2.97 after the industrial-biotech company said that its renewable jet fuel will be used as part of a flight demonstration during the Rio+20 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development. Colony Bankcorp CBAN - This small-cap name surged 16.57% to $6.05. The stock is very thinly traded and one buyer could have accounted for the activity in the name. Only 17,599 CBAN shares traded hands on the session. China Sunergy Co. CSUN - Shares climbed more than 16% on the day to $1.44. The stock rose on around 3 times the average volume. Nevertheless, only around 67,000 CSUN shares traded hands and the company only has a market cap of $21.83 million, so the move could have just been one or two buyers accumulating the stock. Document Security Co. DSS - This stock jumped more than 21% on the session on heavy volume. The reason for the move was not readily apparent, and the NYSE contacted the company regarding the unusual activity in its stock price. The company said that it does not comment on unusual market activity. JA Solar JASO - The small-cap surged 16.85% to $1.04 on the day. The movement in the name came on the heels of a better than expected quarterly earnings report. Metabolix MBLX - Shares soared more than 31% to $2.57 on Tuesday. The move in the stock is likely related to a press release announcing that the company will be presenting at the 10th Annual Ardour Capital Energy Technology Conference on Thursday, June 7, 2012 in New York City. Shore Bancshares SHBI - This is another extremely thinly traded stock, and little can be gleaned from today's 17.33% surge. The stock closed at $6.47. Tix Corp. TIXC - This stock climbed 17.65% to $2.00 after the company's CEO offered to buy all outstanding shares for $2.25. The company closed the day with a market-cap of $47.34 million.
