CVS Health, Walmart & Walgreens Ordered To Pay $650.6M In Opioid Case: Reuters

Pharmacy operators CVS Health Corp CVS, Walmart Inc WMT, and Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc WBA will be required to pay $650.6 million to two Ohio counties, Reuters reported.
A federal judge ruled on Wednesday gave the ruling regarding the damage done by the opioid epidemic.
The pharmacy chains have been found to have created a public nuisance in Lake and Trumbull counties by over-supplying addictive pain pills.
The judge ordered the companies to pay the amount over fifteen years and asked them to devise procedures to prevent the illegal diversion of opioid drugs.
The report specified that the U.S. opioid epidemic had caused more than 500,000 overdose deaths over two decades.
