AirTran Pilots To Go On Picketing (AAI)

AirTran Airways’ AAI pilots have planned to picket outside the company’s annual meeting site. The pilots are urging the management to renew their contracts with better wages and quality of life improvements. AirTran had posted losses in its first quarter. The pilot union said that they are paid less than their competitors. The company employs 1,650 pilots. AirTran management has refused to state its stand on the issue. A spokesperson said that the company does not want to negotiate via the media. The company also said that it had modified the contract in 2007, but the proposal was rejected by pilots.
