Hot Topic Report Earnings; Shares Fall After-Hours

Shares of Hot Topic Inc. HOTT are off by 1.23%, currently trading $6.45, after the company reported earnings. Hot Topic said that EPS came in at $0.04; this compares to earnings of a $0.03 in the same quarter the year prior. The first quarter of fiscal 2010 results include a loss per share of $0.02 related to ShockHound.com, the company's online music site. The Street was looking for EPS of $0.04. As for guidance, company management said that Q2 2010 would come in at a loss of $0.07-0.10. This was in-line with previous quarterly issued guidance. Hot Topic said they opened one more Hot Topic store in the quarter, as well as one Torrid store.
