Trump Sues New York AG Letitia James For 'Relentless Crusade' Against Him 'While Violent Crimes Skyrocket' In Her State

Former President Donald Trump said he's sued New York State Attorney General Letitia James in a Florida Court.

What Happened: Trump said on Truth Social Wednesday that James had done "nothing" to protect New York against violent crimes and criminals while she attacks "great and upstanding businesses" like his own Trump Organization.

"After seeing what James has tried to do to the Trump Organization and others, many businesses are exiting New York for more friendly environments. This is all while violent crime skyrockets and the residents lack basic safety in many places," Trump said in his lawsuit.

The former U.S. leader said if he were not elected president and "now leading" in polls by "substantial margins" against both Democrats and Republicans "this would not be happening."

In his social media post, Trump also called New York "one of the most crime-ridden places on earth with murders, robberies, drug deals, and every other form of crime setting records on a weekly basis."

Why It Matters: In his complaint before the Circuit Court in Florida Trump said that "Extraordinary wrongdoing requires extraordinary relief."

Calling himself a resident of Palm Beach County, Florida, Trump said that James abused her position as Attorney General to pursue a "relentless, pernicious, public, and unapologetic crusade against" him with the goal of destroying him personally, financially, and politically. 

In September, James sued Trump and three of his adult children for $250 million claiming they participated in a decade-long extensive fraud. The Trump Organization was also named in the complaint.
