Kim Jong Un's North Korea Denies Supplying Weapons To Putin And 'Has No Plans To Do So'

Kim Jong Un-led isolated nation on Tuesday denied arm-dealing with Moscow after reports on the weekend said a train crossed from North Korea into Russia carrying weapons for Vladimir Putin's war in Ukraine.

What Happened: Pyongyang on Tuesday said it has never had arms dealings with Moscow and has no plans to do so, the state media reported, citing a statement from the ministry of national defense official.

This came after the U.S. alleged that it had concrete information about Kim secretly supplying Putin with a “significant” number of artillery shells for the Russia-Ukraine war. Pyongyang was attempting to obscure the shipments by funneling them through Middle Eastern and North African countries, U.S. National Security Council Spokesman John Kirby said.

A North Korean vice director for military foreign affairs said, "The U.S. should not pull up the DPRK without any reason," calling the arms-dealing allegations a rumor. He said Pyongyang has “never had ‘arms dealings’ with Russia” and has “no plan to do so in the future.”

“We regard such moves of the U.S. as part of its hostile attempt to tarnish the image of the DPRK in the international arena by invoking the illegal ‘sanctions resolution’ of the (U.N. Security Council) against the DPRK,” he added.

North Korea, which fired a barrage of missiles toward Seoul, with one of them crossing the Northern Limit Line last week, slammed the U.S. and its ally on Monday for a “dangerous war drill.”
