Apple Inc. AAPL has settled one of its ongoing lawsuits targeting AirPods technologies before a retrial was supposed to begin, but another lawsuit is still hanging over the tech giant’s head.
What Happened: A patent lawsuit between hands-free headphone maker Pinn and Apple has been settled outside of court, reported Appleinsider (via Law 360). The settlement conditions are yet unknown.

Pinn had earlier claimed that Apple’s AirPods infringed on several patents owned by the company.
The lawsuit began in 2019 when Pinn alleged that the Tim Cook-led company knowingly used intellectual property provided in a private correspondence while developing Airpods.
Pinn approached the iPhone maker with the technology in October 2016. Apple responded in 2017, passing the offer, the report noted.
In December 2016, Apple released the original AirPods. The patent filings from Apple show that they had been working on the technology since 2015.
In August, an earlier trial ended in a mistrial over jury misconduct.
Why It’s Important: Apple may have settled this lawsuit outside of court but it is facing another involving AirPods. A patent troll named Jawbone Innovations is suing Apple for allegedly violating patents related to noise cancellation technology.
Apple is reportedly by eliminating the violating features to save itself from further damages related to this case.
