(San Jose, CA) iPlum, a company that specializes in high-tech communication services for business professionals, has made HIPAA compliant mobile solutions available for healthcare professionals. Health care professionals can now use iPlum’s mobile solution to communicate patient information securely and avoid data breaches.
iPlum’s solution for healthcare providers helps physicians and other healthcare professionals get the benefits of a second line without divulging their personal number or carrying another device.
For a nominal amount, the clients signing up for this service receive a second virtual line that encrypts all voice-based and text-based communication while masking the physician's number. This secure channel facilitates the two way transmission of information between the patient and physician while being compliant with HIPAA norms.
Healthcare providers can load the iPlum application, which is available on both Apple’s App store and on Android and use it to message each other and patients. Another important feature is that they can opt to keep their number private while ensuring that patients clearly understand from whom the calls and messages are coming from. Previously when numbers were not divulged, patients would not respond as they were unable to identify that the incoming call was from the doctor. The ‘Do Not Disturb’ feature of iPlum, based on information provided regarding the hours that the doctor is available, directs calls to the doctor’s virtual line or to their answering service. Patients can receive automated texts informing them as to when the doctor would be available. Providers can opt to record calls if needed, though it is not mandatory.
iPlum works by creating a separate CRM (customer relationship management) software on the iPlum app itself to store business contacts. They are encrypted and do not overlap with the personal contacts in any manner. As the two address books are entirely separate, customers can opt to have different screens and caller tunes for both kinds of calls.
Commenting on iPlum’s HIPAA compliant solution, Pankaj Gupta, Founder and CEO of iPlum said, “Having a HIPAA compliant virtual line will help healthcare providers streamline their communications while protecting their privacy and that of their patients. The auto-text feature to respond to any missed calls is also highly appreciated by the physicians using this service. Our service minimizes the need to carry around multiple devices or checking in with the clinic when you are on the go. Our multiple levels of security and top grade encryption helps customers to stay compliant with HIPAA. With 4,419 data breaches in healthcare between 2009 and 2021, healthcare providers are not in any position to take risks and iPlum can be of significant help to them in this regard.”
