iPhone 14 Users In US, Canada: Apple's Emergency SOS Via Satellite Is Now Live For You

Apple Inc. AAPL has launched its highly-anticipated Emergency SOS via satellite service on all iPhone 14 models in select countries.  

What Happened: The Emergency SOS via satellite feature allows users to message emergency services even when cellular and WiFi coverage is not available. 

Additionally, the feature will help users reassure friends and family while traveling off the grid as they can now open the Find My app and share their location via satellite.

“Some of the most popular places to travel are off the beaten path and simply lack cellular coverage. With Emergency SOS via satellite, the iPhone 14 lineup provides an indispensable tool that can get users the help they need while they are off the grid,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing.

Emergency SOS via satellite feature will be available on iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max

The feature is now available in the U.S. and Canada, while it will roll out in France, Germany, Ireland and the U.K. in December. 

Apple’s latest iPhone lineup also includes a crash detection feature that notifies emergency responders if the smartphone owner is involved in an automobile collision. The feature was, however, triggered by a rollercoaster ride too
