Microsoft And Google, Watch Out! New App That Has An Opinionated Take On The Calendar Raises $7M

Amie, a new-age startup, has secured $7 million in a seed round to compete against Microsoft Outlook and Google Calendar.

What Happened: Amie announced that it closed a $7 million seed round led by Spark Capital in June, reported TechCrunch. The startup is building a calendar app to help people get things done and keep up with their teams. The app will help people stay on top of their schedule, connect with team members and manage to-dos effectively and conveniently.

Amie, however, has strong opinions about its feature set, particularly regarding to-do lists.

The company currently has 11 people, but it intends to increase the number to 20. With this funding, Amie will focus on releasing its revamped to-do list product.

Amie has competition from the latest crop of calendar startups, such as Vimcal, Magical, Fantastical, Cron and Rise

Why It’s Important: Amie plans to integrate existing tools and apps that people use to become a one-stop productivity hub. It already started with Spotify to see what office coworkers are listening to.

The startup also intends to make more business-oriented integrations with products like GitHub, Stripe and Typeform, the report noted.

As of now, users who want to try Amie will have to sign up for a waitlist. The startup onboards new users every week and plans to launch publicly sometime next year.
