Florida's Republican Governor Ron DeSantis criticized Apple Inc AAPL on Tuesday over allegations that it had threatened to remove Elon Musk-led Twitter from its App Store.
What Happened: DeSantis came in support of Musk and said that the owner of Twitter had moved to reinstate banned Twitter accounts to facilitate "free speech."
De Santis said that Musk was restoring a lot of accounts that were "unfairly and illegitimately" suspended for "putting out accurate information on COVID."
"If Apple responds to that by nuking them from the App Store, I think that would be a huge, huge mistake and it would be a really raw exercise of monopolistic power that I think would merit a response from the United States Congress," said De Santis.

Why It Matters: DeSantis pointed to Apple and urged it not to be a "vassal of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)."
He said the Tim Cook-led company was using its "corporate power" to "suffocate Americans" and trying to suppress their right to express themselves."
Musk named DeSantis as his choice for president in 2024. He said that the Florida governor could defeat the incumbent Joe Biden without even campaigning.
The Tesla and SpaceX CEO plans to launch his own rival to the iPhone if Apple goes ahead and boots Twitter from its App Store.
