Georgia voters are set to choose their U.S. Senator in a runoff election scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 6, after the midterm polls held on Nov. 8 did not produce a clear winner. Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) is facing off against Republican contender Herschel Walker in this key state.
What Happened: Donald Trump’s niece Mary Trump, who has been an outspoken critic of the former president, released a satirical video this week in which she urged her uncle to travel to Georgia ahead of the vote and campaign for Walker. She noted that several democratic heavy hitters, including former President Barack Obama, made an appearance in Georgia to support Warnock, but that the Republicans weren’t encouraging Trump to follow suit.
Many people, including those on Walker’s team and Trump’s inner circle, have restrained the former president from going to the state, Mary said. In other words, they are suggesting, "Donald you're poison. Don’t hold a rally for our incredibly incompetent and unqualified candidate," she said.
“Let the man campaign for the other most incompetent, least qualified candidate,” she added.

Calling this out as unfair, Mary urged Trump not to listen to them. “They clearly don’t understand your value not just as a campaigner but as somebody who is the head of the Republican Party,” she said in jest.
“You should be calling your own shots,” she said, and then urged Trump to go to Georgia.
“No doubt in my mind you are going to push him over the finish line,” she sarcastically declared.
Why It’s Important: The election result is key, given it is the final U.S. Senate election of the midterms, and will determine if the Senate will need to forge a power-sharing agreement.
A director of Trump’s campaign, who previously expected Walker to win the runoff, said he is concerned and isn’t sure who will prevail, the Washington Post reported.
