Spotify's Time Capsule Lets You Capture Your 'Playlist In A Bottle' Now And Revisit It A Year Later

Spotify Technology S.A. SPOT has announced a new in-app experience — "Playlist in a Bottle" — that would let users capture their current playlists and musical preferences and revisit those a year later.

What Happened: On Wednesday, Spotify announced a new feature to enable users to revisit their 2023 musical self in January 2024.

To avail of "Playlist in a Bottle," users need to update the Spotify mobile app to the latest version, click on spotify.com/playlistinabottle and select the time capsule of their choice. It could be a bottle, jean pocket, gumball machine, lunch box or teddy bear.

Users will then be asked to answer a series of song-inspired prompts, after which they need to seal the time capsule and send it off.

Next year in January, they'll receive a personalized time capsule reminding them about their musical preferences for 2023.

The feature is available in 27 markets (including the U.S.) and 18 languages for free and premium users across iOS and Android devices.

According to Spotify, when Jan. 31 comes to a close, "we’ll cork the experience," which means users won't be able to create this time capsule after that date.

With this new feature, Spotify might be trying to repeat the success of Wrapped. Like Wrapped, users can also share the "Playlist in a Bottle" across social media platforms, reported TechCrunch.
