Cannabis Mall To Open In CA

What was once an outlet mall in California's Mojave Desert, near Interstate 15 between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, will soon become a "cannabis super-center" now that the Barstow City Council earned a second council vote.

Following the last week's 3-1 approval of the project, reported SFGATE, the 29-acre area with 24 different buildings will be turned into a large legal marijuana business center, despite opposition from local Christian groups.

Councilmember Carmen Hernandez who voted against the project raised some concerns saying that "no one in this community wants Barstow known as the cannabis capital of California."

The new business venture will include 20 cannabis farms, six distributors, five marijuana producers and two retail dispensaries.

Curaleaf Opens Another FL Store

Curaleaf Holdings, Inc. CURA CURLF announced the opening of its new Clermont dispensary on Monday.

Located at 1900 S. Highway 27, Clermont in Florida, the new store is one of the company's 57 shops in the Sunshine State and 147 nationwide.

The grand opening ceremony for the new 2,682 square feet retail location is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 3.

"This new location is in the heart of one of Florida's fastest-growing communities," said Matt Darin, the company's CEO. "We continue to expand our retail footprint in the state, and our team is committed to providing our expanding patient community with a tailored, educational approach to cannabis and a seamless retail experience."

Unity Rd. Enters NJ With New Shop

Unity Rd., the national cannabis dispensary franchise from Item 9 Labs Corp. INLB said recently that the brand is officially entering New Jersey, reported Fox 19.

Dishen Patel, a local Unity Rd. shop owner and entrepreneur has obtained a permit for a recreational business license from the Garden State and the municipality of Franklin Township in Somerset County to kick off the new cannabis business.

The Franklin Township Unity Rd. is expected to launch in the first half of 2023.

"I was seeking next-generation business opportunities in hypergrowth industries in which I had a passion," Patel said. "I know how to run a retail business, but the cannabis space is layered with complexities. I needed a direct route to alleviate barriers to entry and set myself up for success while confidently making decisions."
