Tesla Readies New Nevada Factory To Manufacture Semi-Truck, Massive Battery Pack

First unveiled in 2017, and finally released to Pepsi in late in 2022, the Tesla Inc TSLA Semi is set to change the shipping for the better.

With over 500 miles of range on a full charge, while fully loaded, this semi promises lower emissions, lower operating costs, and less maintenance.

Now Tesla is opening a new $3.6 billion factory in Nevada to handle production of the semi-truck and its battery pack.

Governor Joe Lambardo was present at the factory to celebrate the opening, as shared by Teslarati. And during his time at the factory, Lambardo was not shy to share pictures from inside. Included in those pictures was the Tesla Semi's battery pack, which has not been seen before.

Tesla’s investment includes:

  • 4 million square-feet of new manufacturing space
  • 3,000 new additional employees
  • Two new manufacturing facilities: a 100 GWh 4680 cell factory and high-volume Semi factory

CEO Elon Musk said the trucks are as easy to drive as a Model 3, and can be driven with no training. The semi can recharge 70% of its 500 mile range in only 30 minutes, and Tesla hopes to ramp the production of the semi throughout 2023 to achieve maximum deliveries.
