As Elon Musk Lifts Ban On Cannabis Info & Ads On Twitter, PAX Is Among First To Jump Right On

Following Elon Musk's announcement that Twitter can now host cannabis ads, PAX got a move on.

“This is a big moment, as a major advertising platform is making the decision to treat cannabis like any other consumer products category,” said Luke Droulez, VP of Marketing at PAX. “We’re excited to be among the first of Twitter’s cannabis advertising partners and be able to engage customers more directly. After decades of prohibitionist propaganda, there is an opportunity to destigmatize and normalize the plant and its use.”

What happened

Thanks to Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla TSLA and Twitter CEO, the site's policy has changed. Twitter will now allow cannabis companies to advertise and promote their brands and informational marijuana-related content for various cannabis products can also appear on the site, including:

  • CBD (Cannabidiol) and similar cannabinoid products

  • THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) and similar products

  • Cannabis-related products and services. Examples include, but are not limited to delivery services, labs, growing technology, search engines, events, etc.

Before these changes, Twitter was allowing promotional content of only CBD topical brands, and paid ads were banned.
