Tesla Inc.‘s TSLA wireless charger could be a promising alternative to Apple Inc.‘s AAPL canceled AirPower mat, but at an expensive rate.
What Happened: In the wireless charging market filled with a plethora of options from reputable to unknown brands, the Tesla Wireless Charging Platform stands out, according to The Verge.

While many companies have attempted to capitalize on Apple’s failed AirPower — the wireless charging mat — Tesla’s wireless charger has emerged as a promising alternative, albeit at a premium price of $300, available exclusively in the Tesla store.
The wireless charger can charge up to three Qi devices anywhere. The mat and plug also don’t get very hot while charging. In contrast, it doesn’t have extra charging ports and already much cheaper chargers with more versatility are available in the market.
Why It’s Important: Although Tesla’s wireless charger boasts an impressive design and comes with a premium price tag, it falls short in its compatibility with certain devices, including the Apple Watch and other smartwatches — a feature that was a key selling point for Apple’s failed AirPower.
It may appeal to die-hard Tesla enthusiasts, but it may not be the most practical option for the average consumer as similar or better options are available at a more affordable price point, the report stated.
