The CEO of MCR Labs, a cannabis testing facility in Framingham (MA) is accusing the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission's (CCC) staff of unprofessionalism and intimidation during a surprise inspection.

What Happened

Michael Kahn sent a letter detailing the allegations to the agency and claims that while some inspection agents were polite, others exhibited improper conduct that disrupted lab operations.

According to the letter, one agent touched and stood over an employee while another interrupted a manager and demanded they "stop talking and listen."

"We provide a safe workspace. They're professionals. It's not fair to them. I can't stand by and say anything nothing," Kahn said.

The commission “categorically disputes the characterization of our investigators, both in following agency protocols and their professionalism,” a CCC spokesperson told the Boston Business Journal, who also said regulators deny the allegations but plan to investigate Kahn's claims.

Moreover, the agents reportedly refused to follow safety protocols, such as signing into the visitor log. Additionally, Kahn claimed that CCC agents handled cannabis without gloves, which could have potentially damaged the products.

The CCC spokesperson did not answer questions about their visits' safety requirements.

MA Pioneers Cannabis Research Advancements

Massachusetts is one of the most prominent research and biotech hubs in the world, and combined with the state’s legal cannabis program, there is plenty of opportunity for cannabis science and innovation.

In 2021, MCR Labs, a leader in marijuana analysis, compliance testing and research was involved with a cannabis science fair hosted by the Boston University Build Lab.
