Tesla Recalls Again — Except This Time, It's 35 Semi-Trucks

EV giant Tesla Inc TSLA is recalling thirty-five 2023 semi-trucks, citing trouble with the parking brake.

What Happened: The parking brake might not engage as expected when the driver releases the brakes, the company said in a filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This may allow the vehicle to roll away and increase the risk of a crash.

Tesla said it will replace the parking brake valve module in affected vehicles without any cost to the customer.

Tesla’s all-electric heavy-duty semi-truck was first unveiled in 2017. It was pegged for a 2019 launch, but the first deliveries were eventually made by the end of 2022 to beverage giant PepsiCo PEP.

Last week, Tesla issued a recall for 2,649 imported Model S vehicles in China, due to a defective front trunk latch.

Price Action: Tesla shares rose 0.12% in extended trading after closing at $195.28 on Thursday, according to data from Benzinga Pro.
