California fast-food chain Jack in the Box JACK has ventured into the cannabis space via a partnership with Weedmaps.
To celebrate the 4/20 holiday Jack in the Box has set up a storefront on a popular online cannabis marketplace for consumers, which is going live this weekend.
With the move, the fast-food restaurant is promoting the return of their famous Pineapple Express milkshake as well as the addition of a pineapple-infused Red Bull drink.
"Some brands dip their toes into 4/20 with a lighter execution—something with a wink and a nod," Jack in the Box CMO Ryan Ostrom told Adweek. "We want to put a stake in it and own the moment for quick-service restaurants."
Jack in the Box will be advertising in Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco via display media and custom landing pages. Weedmaps users will have the opportunity to get more information about the food truck activations before it officially launches from April 16-19.
In the meantime, Weedmaps operator WM Technology, Inc. MAPS recently announced the company's "Power of Weed" marketing campaign by launching '20 Days of Deals' ahead of the April 20 holiday.
From Monday, April 10 through Sunday, April 30th, Weedmaps will offer some of the best cannabis deals in one's region for the holiday.
