Zinger Key Points
  • Tesla currently offers three versions of the Model 3.
  • This new Model 3 will have a long-range battery pack with a single rear-wheel-drive motor.

The Tesla Inc TSLA Model 3, known for its impressive performance, range and affordability, has been a game changer in the electric vehicle market.

Tesla is making a new version of the Model 3 (not to be confused with rumors of the Highland refresh), exclusively for businesses in the U.K.

Electrek shared this news after the announcement was made on LinkedIn by Karen Bowen, senior key account manager at Tesla.

The automaker currently offers three versions of the Model 3: Standard Range RWD, Long Range AWD and Performance AWD. This new version is specifically aimed at commercial customers.

"To accelerate the electrification of Europe's B2B fleet, we are introducing a new Model 3 variant that caters to the needs of our commercial customers," said Bowen. "Model 3 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive combines a segment-leading range of 394 miles (WLTP) with highest charging convenience, at an entry-level price point from £46,990."

This new Model 3 will have a long-range battery pack with a single rear-wheel-drive motor, unlike the current Model 3 Long Range, which has two motors. Priced at £46,990 (~$58,500 U.S. dollars), it is priced right in between the currently available Long Range AWD and Standard Range RWD options.

This variant will be Tesla's longest-range Model 3 yet, boasting 394 miles of WLTP range. It's worth noting EPA tests on similar vehicles tend to rate vehicle ranges slightly lower.
