Ahead Of Ron DeSantis' Jerusalem Visit, Israel's Netanyahu Says He'll Meet 'Every American Representative'

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has indicated that he would meet potential U.S. Presidential candidate Ron DeSantis when the latter travels to Israel this week.

What Happened: Netanyahu, on CBS' "Face the Nation," said, "Of course I'll meet with everyone. Why not? I [will] meet with Republican governors and Democratic governors," indicating that he will be meeting Florida Governor DeSantis.

"I'd meet with every American representative, governor, senator, members of Congress. And I think it's — it's my job. And I think it's important for Israel's bipartisan support in the United States. I make a point of it."

Republican potential candidate in the 2024 presidential election will travel to Jerusalem on Thursday, as per his office. DeSantis plans to meet with Israeli officials and deliver a keynote address at an event celebrating the 75th anniversary of Israel.

The trip, which begins from April 24 to April 28, will also include stops in Japan, South Korea and the United Kingdom and is being billed as an international trade mission.

Why It Matters: DeSantis’ visit to Israel comes at a time when Netanyahu is struggling to pass legislation, amid strikes and mass demonstrations, that would limit the power of his nation's judiciary.

Florida Governor, who met with Netanyahu during a visit to Jerusalem in 2019, called the Sunshine State “the most pro-Israel state in the nation.”​​
