Nevada Regulators Sound Alarm On Pesticide Used In Products Sold In Las Vegas

Certain cannabis products sold over the past month were grown with an unapproved pesticide, according to a Nevada cannabis regulator.

Ethephon, a Florel brand pesticide, was used on seven batches of useable cannabis from Circle S Farms, according to the Nevada Cannabis Compliance Board.

The affected cannabis was sold between March 23 and April 21 in the following Las Vegas retail locations:

• Circle S Farms LLC (doing business as CannaStarz) at 631 S Las Vegas Blvd in Las Vegas
• MMOF Vegas Retail Inc. (doing business as MedMen Enterprises Inc. MMNFF at 4503 Paradise Rd
• Inyo Fine Cannabis Dispensary LLC at 2520 S Maryland Parkway
• Desert Aire Wellness LLC (doing business as 420 Sahara) at 420 E Sahara Avenue
• Clark NMSD LLC (doing business as The Sanctuary) at 2113 Las Vegas Blvd North
• Silver Sage Wellness LLC at 4626 W Charleston Boulevard
• Las Vegas Tribe of Paiute Indians (doing business as NuWu Cannabis Marketplace) at 1235 Paiute Circle
• Elko Band Colony of the Te-Moak Tribe of Western Shoshone Indians of Nevada (doing business as Newe Dispensary) at 1555 Shoshone Cir in Elko

The cannabis regulator previously warned about Ethephon, which was detected in more than 117 infused edible products, 41 infused pre-roll products and 221 solvent-based concentrates harvested by Clark Natural Medicinal Solutions LLC.

The products were sold in over 100 dispensaries.

According to the National Library of Medicine, certain pesticides can be a health hazard.

Lack Of Diversity In Cannabis Working Group

Separately, Nevada state senators are reportedly concerned about the lack of gender and ethnic diversity of a cannabis working group assembled by Governor Joe Lombardo.

Sen. Roberta Lange insinuated that the governor didn’t address diversity when forming the group: “Was there diversity, or was it just people the governor wanted to invite?” she asked Lombardo’s general counsel, Chris Nielsen.

Sen. Pat Spearman, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Commerce and Labor addressed the issue of gender, also address the issue.

"We have got to be intentional about diversity, equity, and inclusion, and if we’re not, we’re gonna keep doing the same thing over and over again," Spearman said. "There’s always going to be a small group, pulled together at the last minute, and, oh, we just pulled folks together but it never occurs to anybody about diversity.”
