Early Volume Plays Among Those Valued Below $10 (DEPO, AONE, NAV, ABK)

Some of the stocks that are valued below $10 and have the potential to become one of the high volume movers in the early trading hours are: DepoMed Inc DEPO soared 10.6% to $3.35 in pre-market trading. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted approval to DEPO’s marketing application for the experimental pain drug DM-1796. The drug is to be used for the treatment of postherpetic neuralgia. DEPO will now receive a milestone payment amounting to $10 million from its licensee. The 50-day average daily volume for DEPO is 328,000. A123 Systems Inc AONE jumped 5.1%, to $8.42 in pre-market hours. Yesterday, the advanced ion batteries producer signed a deal with truck maker Navistar International NAV to produce truck batteries for NAV’s line of electric delivery vehicles. AONE’s 50-day average daily volume is 2.6 million. Bond insurer Ambac Financial ABK announced late yesterday that all of its remaining $16.4 billion of exposure has been commuted to collateralized debt obligations of asset-backed securities. Counterparties will be paid $2.6 billion in cash and $2 billion in newly issued surplus notes on collateralized debt obligations based on asset-backed securities.
