Tucker Carlson and Don Lemon, two formerly prominent news anchors from Fox Corp FOX FOXA and CNN, respectively, have hired the same powerhouse lawyer, Bryan Freedman, to handle their exits from their respective networks.
Both Carlson and Lemon were recently ousted from their positions, and while neither has announced any legal disputes with their former employers, the fact that they have retained the same lawyer suggests potential legal action in the future.
Freedman is a Hollywood lawyer with a reputation for securing multimillion-dollar settlements for high-profile clients in the entertainment industry.
He represented several celebrities in the past, including Chris Cuomo, the former CNN anchor who is seeking $125 million for wrongful termination, and Megyn Kelly, who received a payout for her full contract when she left NBC.
He is also known for representing Michael Jackson’s estate in a $100 million lawsuit against the HBO documentary “Leaving Neverland,” which won an appeal in 2020 to go to private arbitration.
Freedman is known for his aggressive litigation style, and his clients have often received favorable outcomes in their lawsuits against former employers.
Carlson and Lemon’s departures came as a surprise to many.
Carlson learned about his departure ten minutes before the network made the announcement. While Lemon said in a tweet that he had been "terminated by CNN" and that he was "stunned."
