Peter Thiel Wants To Conquer Death With Cryogenic Preservation: 'We Haven't Even Tried'

PayPal co-founder and billionaire Peter Thiel offered his take on the philosophical side of life in a recent podcast.

Thiel expressed interest in finding out how to conquer death in the "Honestly with Bari Weiss," podcast hosted by independent journalist Bari Weiss, Business Insider reported.

He was replying to a question about whether humanity can conquer death and whether it should. "We haven't even tried. We should either conquer death or at least figure out why it's impossible," Thiel said.

The billionaire entrepreneur said he has signed up to be cryogenically preserved but suggested that he doesn't expect it to work. "I don’t necessarily expect it to work, but I think it's the sort of thing we're supposed to try to do," he said.

Cryogenics is a technology that uses temperatures below minus 130 degrees centigrade (-266 degrees Fahrenheit) to preserve enough brain information to allow the future revival of the cryopreserved person.

This is not the first time he is showing interest in cryogenic preservation. A book on Thiel delves into his investments running into millions of dollars in life extension research, FT reported.

Business Insider reported that Thiel has recently invested in Cryopets, which provides pet owners the option to preserve their companions.
