  • Amnesty International to curate inaugural abortion rights rally.
  • Wistaverse aims to reduce violence and ensure inclusivity.

Virtual protest platform Wistaverse on Thursday announced its launch in The Sandbox open metaverse, hosting its inaugural event in support of abortion rights curated by Amnesty International from May 11 to 14.

The platform aims to provide a safe and non-violent alternative for people unable to participate in real-life protests, promoting universal inclusion and access to events.

As global problems like political repression, climate change, and economic downturns continue to plague the world, the number of protests has grown by 12% worldwide within the last decade.

Wistaverse founder Grégoire Laugier said the platform can reduce violence associated with real-life protests and enable participation from people in distant or authoritarian regions.

First Mass Protest Focuses On Women's Rights and Abortion

Organized by Amnesty International, the first mass protest on May 13 and May 14 will be dedicated to women's rights and abortion, featuring key activists and celebrities.

Amnesty International aims to leverage the blockchain environment to engage a new audience and promote human rights in a more interactive and decentralized manner.

Amnesty HU.R.R.A. NFT Project

Amnesty International has created its first NFT project, Amnesty HU.R.R.A., to utilize Web3 technology in supporting abortion rights worldwide. Users can purchase HURRA NFTs to raise funds for the cause, with future fundraisings being amplified through the Wistaverse utility token $WISTA.

Director of Amnesty International Belgium Philippe Hensmans said: "Amnesty International sees the blockchain environment as a way of sensitizing a new audience to its work by addressing topics in a more interactive and decentralized manner than it has ever done before. We are thrilled about this collaboration with the Wistaverse because it allows us as a brand to start envisioning what will be possible in the years to come to educate and engage new audiences about the defense of human rights."

All proceeds from NFT sales are decentrally paid directly to Amnesty International and other causes by automatic wallet transfer without an intermediary.

Payments and plans for the supported protests will be documented on the Wistaverse platform and its Discord channel, while the identities of users and donors remain anonymous.
