Shredded Zuckerberg's Murph Challenge: 300 Squats, 200 Push-Ups, 100 Pull-Ups To Mark Memorial Day

Zinger Key Points
  • Zuckerberg participated in the Murph challenge, a CrossFit workout named after Navy SEAL Lt. Michael P. Murphy.
  • The workout involves running a mile, followed by 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats, and ending with another mile run.
  • Zuckerberg said he completed the challenge in 39:58, while his daughters did a quarter-Murph in 15 minutes.

Once again, the world caught a glimpse of Meta Platforms Inc. META co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg's shredded lifestyle as he celebrated Memorial Day with an intense workout.

What Happened: Zuckerberg shared his fitness regime on Facebook, saying that he followed a tradition of honoring "those who defended us" by participating in the Murph Challenge every Memorial Day.

The challenge is a benchmark CrossFit workout named after Navy SEAL Lt. Michael P. Murphy, who was killed fighting in Afghanistan in 2005.

In a mirror selfie shared on Facebook, Zuckerberg was still seen sporting his weighted pack after completing the Murph challenge. The highlight of the post was not only his own achievement but also the involvement of his daughters, Maxima and August. He shared a snapshot of them joining in on the push-ups.

Zuckerberg captioned the post, "I try to do the Murph challenge with the girls every Memorial Day as a tradition to honor those who defended us. One of Lt Murphy's favorite workouts was running a mile, then doing 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats, and then running another mile — all while wearing a 20lb weighted pack. This year I got it done in 39:58. The girls did a quarter-Murph (unweighted) in 15 mins!"

Zuckerberg even engaged with his followers in the comments section. He told one follower that the last mile run can be particularly challenging "when your legs are torched from the squats."

He added that there are different ways to approach the challenge, with the most hardcore method "called Rx" being to complete the pull-ups, push-ups, and squats sequentially. "I did a partitioned Murph with a bunch of sets with smaller reps of each alternating," Zuckerberg told another follower.

Why It Matters: Zuckerberg's dedication to physical fitness extends beyond Memorial Day and serves as an inspiration. Just a few days ago, he surprised many by appearing at a jiu-jitsu match.
