Zinger Key Points
  • Wix.com reported a beat on top and bottoms lines in May, and raised guidance over its previous estimate.
  • Tluszcz says Wix powers 250 million websites, and has grown 35% year over year for the last decade.

Wix.com Ltd WIX executive chair Mark Tluszcz shared insights about the company’s performance, growth strategy, and how it's embracing artificial intelligence (AI) in an interview with Benzinga.

The conversation comes on the heels of Wix’s first-quarter earnings issued on May 17. The Tel Aviv-based company issued earnings of 91 cents, beating a Street estimate of 14 cents, on revenues of $374.1 million, ahead of a $369.4 million consensus estimate.

For the second quarter, Wix expects its revenue to jump 12% year-over-year to about $385 million, ahead of the $377.46 million consensus, according to Benzinga Pro.

Wix also raised its 2023 revenue outlook to about $1.543 billion. That’s up from the previous estimate of $1.51 billion to $1.535 billion.

“We’re the single best place to create your online identity,” Tluszcz said. “Today we have 250 million websites powered by Wix, whether you’re a small business or a big business.”

The company has grown at a rate of over 35% year-over-year for the past decade, Tluszcz noted.

“We are just a fantastic product company, which makes it easy for everybody to use and build a website," he told Benzinga.

The Role Of AI

Tluszcz touts Wix as one of the pioneers of AI as an emerging tech.

"I think of ourselves as we’re the original AI company,” he says. “We came out in 2016 with Wix adi that was, you know, advanced digital intelligence."

The company currently runs about 200 AI models within its product stack, from front-end user-facing to back-end tasks.

The next product on deck is "Wix Headless," which allows people using different front ends to tap into Wix's backend products, fundamentally opening up its platform to users outside of it.

WIX Price Action: Shares of Wix are trading 0.4% higher to $75.23, according to Benzinga Pro.
