Former Vice President Mike Pence is set to kick off his 2024 presidential campaign on June 7 in Iowa, where he will deliver an announcement video and speech, multiple media sources reported Wednesday.

In the race for the Republican Party's 2024 nomination, Pence would not only contend with his former boss, ex-President Donald Trump, but also a growing field of contenders.

Among the GOP candidates Pence would face. U.S. Sen. Tim Scott and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Speaking on Fox News earlier this week, Pence said: "I think this country is in lot of trouble ... We have to produce leadership in this country that will take our country back to the policies that left us stronger, more prosperous, in the Trump-Pence years."

Pence has been vocal in his disapproval of the debt limit deal in recent days. He published a statement via his political advocacy group expressing worries about the agreement, stating that it not only postpones resolving the problem but also adopts "smoke and mirrors" methods to give the idea of "minor reforms."

Pence went on to say that such an approach weakens the military's strength, especially at a time when the nation is facing rising threats from foreign foes.
