Nikki Haley Says If Ukraine Loses To Russia, Then 'We Are Looking At A World War'

A GOP presidential primary and former U.N. Ambassador, Nikki Haley, said a world war could break out if Ukraine ceased its fight against Moscow.

What Happened: Haley urged the U.S. and its allies to continue to provide Ukraine with the necessary weaponry and resources in the ongoing conflict.

"This is bigger than Ukraine. This is a war about freedom and it's one we have to win," Haley told CNN.

"What we have to understand is that a win for Ukraine is a win for all of us because tyrants tell us exactly what they're going to do," she said, adding, "China said they were going to take Hong Kong, they did it. Russia said they were going to invade Ukraine, we watched that happen. China says Taiwan's next, we better believe them. Russia said Poland and the Baltics are next, if that happens, we are looking at a world war. This is about preventing war."

"Everybody wants to know well how does this war end? It would end in a day if Russia pulls out. If Ukraine pulled out, then we're all looking at a world war."

Why It Matters: Republicans have been divided on the issue of supporting Ukraine. While some GOP members, like Nikki Haley, advocate for providing Kyiv with appropriate weapons and equipment to counter Russian aggression, others have been prioritizing different approaches and pushing for negotiations.

Haley also criticized Ron DeSantis and Donald Trump over their refusal to say whether they want Ukraine to win its war against Russia.

“For them to sit there and say that this is a territorial dispute – that’s just not the case, or to say that we should stay neutral,” she said, adding, “It’s in the best interest of our national security for Ukraine to win.”
