Microsoft announced a wide range of titles coming to the Xbox Series X and S, Xbox Game Pass, and PC in 2023 and beyond at its annual Xbox Games Showcase.
What Happened: Microsoft showed off trailers of several titles coming to its Xbox gaming consoles, Xbox Game Pass, and PC. Besides the gaming titles, Microsoft also announced a new variant of the Xbox Series S called ‘Carbon Black', a new Starfield-themed Xbox controller and a headset.
The Xbox Games Showcase 2023 happens at a time when Microsoft has appealed the U.K. Competition and Market Authority's decision to block the acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
The deal has also been blocked by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, which cited ‘harm to consumers' as the reason behind its decision.
Biggest Announcements: Some of the biggest titles announced at the Xbox Games Showcase 2023 are Starfield Direct, Fable, Star Wars: Outlaws, and Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, among others.
Bethesda's sci-fi role-playing game (RPG) Starfield Direct is amongst the most anticipated announcements. Microsoft showcased a new trailer at the event, giving a peek into the actual gameplay for the first time. While the game is all set to launch on Sept. 6, fans can purchase a Starfield-themed Xbox controller and headset now.
While fans still await a story mode in Overwatch 2, Activision Blizzard brings story content to the game on Aug 10 alongside a new hero.
The showcase also brought a new cinematic trailer of Ubisoft's Star Wars: Outlaws, CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, Playground Games' Fable reboot. Microsoft also showed off many new features to its title Flight Simulator, including a Dune-focused expansion slated for November 2023.
Microsoft also announced a new Xbox Series S variant called ‘Carbon Black' with 1TB storage, priced at $349.
